Reiki - Universal Life Energy

Reiki is a self-healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that was developed in 1922 by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan. It creates many beneficial effects that include stress reduction, relaxation, feelings of peace, security and well-being. It is a simple, natural and safe method of self-improvement. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit. It will help you to come back to your best self and to bring back balance to your life. ​Already after one session your mind will calm down and you will feel relaxed, maybe like never before...

On a physical level, Reiki helps to release blockages, toxins, and relieve pain. You will develop greater awareness of your body's needs.

Reiki Session - What To Expect

What to expect during private Reiki healing session 

How long is a Reiki session?

A session is generally up to one hour and 15 minutes. The treatment itself takes up to 60 minutes. We will begin and end with a cup of tea. Before the session, you will need some time to relax and get comfortable. After the session, I will ask you if there is anything you would like to share and I will give you my feedback.


Will I be lying down on a massage table or sitting?

You will be lying down comfortably on a massage bed, except if you have mobility or pain issues. In such case please communicate these prior to the session so I can prepare in advance to ensure your comfort during the session.


Am I clothed during my Reiki session?

Clothes can obstruct energy flow, therefore the best way to receive Reiki is in light clothing or underwear. You will be covered with a blanket during the whole treatment. You can also receive Reiki fully clothed if this makes you feel more comfortable.


Will the Reiki Practitioner’s hands touch me in any way?

Reiki energy may be passed with a light gentle touch or by holding hands a few centimeters above your body with no actual touch. There are standard hand placements beginning at your head or feet, avoiding all sensitive body parts. If you feel uncomfortable with being touched please communicate it prior to the session. The most important thing is that you feel safe and comfortable.


Is one session enough or will I need a series of sessions?

If you would simply like to relax and balance your energy, one session from time to time will work wonders for you. If you would like Reiki to support you in your healing process and progressively work on your current wellness goals, a series of 5 sessions is recommended as a minimum in order to feel permanent and noticeable positive changes and improvement.


What will I feel during the session?

You may feel a very slight tingling, heat, or energy, or nothing at all. It is different for all clients but deep relaxation is almost always felt. Your mind will get calmer and your physical body should feel relaxed. Reiki is so relaxing that you may fall asleep during the session. Don’t worry though, you will still receive all of the benefits of the session, asleep or awake.


Is there talking during the session?

Usually, a session is done without talking, soft ambient music will be played in the background. If you want to communicate something during the session, such as if you are cold or too warm or if you are feeling any sensation that worries you, then do speak up at any time during the session.

After I leave my session, should I do anything special?

Please be gentle to yourself and your body. It is a good idea to spend some quiet time that day or evening after your session. You might have some insights and further mental clarity as your body continues to process the Reiki session.

What is Distance Reiki?

Distance Reiki is a wonderful option for people who cannot come in for regular hands-on Reiki session. Sending Reiki is possible because energy is not confined and can transcend time and space so it is easily transmitted anywhere. Distance Reiki will make you feel relaxed and less stressed. It can also help you to cope with current situations that bother you. After we find a day and time that suits both of us, all you need to do is to sit or lay down comfortably and try to relax as much as possible. You can also just fall asleep. Such a session takes up to 30 min.
